This Egli was one of 3 built to order for the UK luxury goods Alfred Dunhill Co. Owner has a letter from Patrick Godet via email advising of its origins. It is a 998cc GT model with 4-speed gearbox, just like the original Vincent. Frame is a handmade Godet Egli stainless tubular rear with parcel rack. Dunhill had Godet paint the tank, tail piece and engine in the Dunhill color: a reddish brown. Since, a 4-inch alloy Marzocchi handle bar risers and a pair bar back machined alloy blocks were fitted and can be easily removed to have the original handle bars mounting position restored. The bars are Stainless GT spec., as originally fitted.
Current owner has replaced the original front forks springs with Race Techs springs for this Replica Cerriani front forks with their recommended spring rate for this weight machine. The 5-inch Smiths Speedo has been professionally cleaned and serviced as well. The seat is a custom leather one done by a noted leather firm to Dunhill’s spec. Dunhill being the first owner who displayed it in their London store (included with the documentation are a few pictures that Patrick Godet kindly sent me.
In the end all 3 Dunhill Eglis were returned to Patrick . All the Dunhill decals and lettering were removed . The 2nd owner imported the bike in the US, purchasing it directly from Patrick in 2006. Bike now shows 8,321 miles. The motor runs very well the Vincent gearbox is the best shifting std 4 speed I’ve ever experienced and it idles perfectly and starts easily . It’s in a mild state of tune with Mk3 cam timing 8:1 and 30mm MK 1 concentric carbs. Currently the left hand side panel is off the machine to allow clearance on the rear carb something (panel is included in the sales)
